About SynthID Pass
SynthID Pass is developing an independent tool to detect and remove imperceptible digital watermarks (SynthID markers) embedded directly into the pixel data of AI-generated images, videos, and audio files. Unlike traditional metadata cleaners that only strip file headers and EXIF tags, SynthID Pass targets the pixel-level watermarks that Google DeepMind's SynthID technology embeds into AI-generated content. The tool processes multiple file formats including JPG, PNG, WebP, MP4, MOV, MP3, and WAV files.
The tool helps creators understand AI provenance and manage digital watermarks across their workflows by identifying and clearing invisible markers while leaving visible content untouched. SynthID Pass distinguishes between three layers of watermarking: metadata records in file headers, pixel-embedded SynthID patterns designed to survive filters and compression, and visible watermarks. This multi-layer approach enables users to inspect and process the imperceptible watermarks that persist even after traditional cleaning methods.
